    Enjoy the ambience of the nature center at night with a viewing of Field Biologist, a documentary about a remarkably talented but somewhat rudderless high school graduate from New Jersey who suddenly decides to drop everything and travel to Costa Rica to research birds in the tropics. Screening will be followed by Q&A with the film director, Dr. Charles Leck.

     

    Doors open at 6pm. This program is free! Donations accepted for popcorn and snacks.

    Bundle and boot up for a naturalist-guided hike at the marsh to discover what animals are doing during the long cold months of winter. Families will participate in a scavenger hunt that will have them searching for winter wildlife clues. Afterwards, warm up with hot cocoa in the Nature Center!

     

    Registration is required. $5 per person or $20 per family.

    Winter is a great time for wildlife watching. With measuring sticks and field guides in hand, we'll search for animal tracks in the snow or soft ground of Roebling Park to figure out the story of who was here, and which way did they go?

  • Abbott in the Winter: A Talk by Ned Gilmore

    Ned Gilmore’s knowledge of Charles Conrad Abbott, stems from discovering one of Abbott’s 19th century nature books, written about the area we now call the Abbott Marshlands.  Since then, he has tracked down numerous of Abbott’s writings including books, articles, letters, and notes, as well as locations of more than 350 fish specimens.  Ned is collections manager for the Vertebrate Biology Department at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, has a special interest in Late Cretaceous and Early Tertiary fossils of the eastern coastal pain of North America.
